Business cards still play an essential role in most businesses. Since business cards should always be personalized for your business, I decided to show you how you can make car detailing business cards in just a few minutes.
The reason why I’m showing you this is because if you went to buy a car detailing business card somewhere, they all have the same or similar designs. By following this guide, you’ll be able to create a fully customized car detailing business card that stands out from the crowd.
When you see how easy it is to create them, I’m sure you’ll just sit down at your computer and immediately make your own auto-detailing business card design.
How To Make Car Detailing Business Cards in Canva: Step-by-Step Guide
Okay, without further ado, let’s see how you can quickly make business cards for car detailing. For this purpose, we’ll use a tool called Canva (open it here). I am an everyday Canva user, and it’s probably the best and easiest online graphic design tool out there. Even better, Canva is completely free to use! So, register with Canva, and we can proceed with the steps.
The best thing about Canva is that it’s a drag-and-drop builder, and you’ll learn how to use it in under 5 minutes. It’s much better than paying someone to design a business card for you.
1. Choose The Pre-Defined Business Card Design
Open Canva in your browser (you can also use a mobile application, and the steps are the same), and in the upper right corner, click on “Create a design”. A search bar will open. You use it to find pre-defined sizes for various things. In our case, we need a business card design, and you can just enter “business card” into the search bar and choose it from the results.
As you can see from the image, the business card design already comes in 3.5 x 2 inches, which is a standard business card design, and you won’t have to worry about the correct sizes when printing cards. Click on it, and a new window will open, where we’ll be creating our business card design.
2. Add the 2nd Page and Pick a Background Color
Now, we can start editing our auto-detailing business card design. In this guide, I’ll show you a full tutorial on creating everything yourself. However, there are pre-defined templates on Canva, and you can choose them if you want.
First things first, you should add 2nd page for your car detailing business card. 1-page business cards are a thing of the past since they’re not as attractive as business cards with a 2-page design. 2-page design means that both sides of business cards will have something printed on them.
After adding the 2nd page, we can pick a background color. I’ll pick a black color in this case since I’m a big fan of it. Of course, you can choose any color you like, especially if you already have some colors specific to your car detailing business. Also, if your logo is dark, then you should pick a bright background to make the logo stand out.
Click on the “Background” card on the left bar, and pick your desired color.
Also, make sure to click on each card page (1 and 2) and choose the color for both. I decided to use the same color for them since we’ll make them slightly different in the next step.
3. Add Some Effects To The Background
To make your business card stand out from others, we should add some effect to the background. Usually, those effects shouldn’t be too large or too sticky, but something to break out that plain color should be added.
Click on the “Elements” tab and start searching for something you’d want to implement in the design. I searched for the term “laser” so I could put it on both sides of the design. I think that looks fantastic and adds some personalization to the business card.
Also, once you pick the design, position it on the image. I stretched the lasers over the entire design and also reduced the transparency to 30%. To reduce the transparency, click on the transparency tab in the upper right corner and choose the percentage.
4. Design The Front Page of the Business Card
Let’s design the 1st page of the business card first. Usually, the front page contains only your car detailing business name and logo. It’s just to keep it personalized as much as possible. We’ll use the 2nd page (The back page) for adding all important details.
Click on the 1st page, and add your logo and company name. If you don’t have a logo, you can easily create it in Canva. Just click on the “Elements” tab and find some “car wash” graphics that you want to use. For those who already have a logo, click on the “Logos” tab and upload the logo into the Canva app.
After adding a logo, we should add the business name too. Just click on the “Text” tab, pick the text design you want to use, and write your car wash business name.
Just make sure to position both image and text in the center (if you want). It’s extremely easy to do because Canva has positioning lines that you can follow.
5. Design The Back Page (Information Page)
The back page, or the “information page”, as I like to call it, will contain all the information about your car detailing business. It should include:
- Logo and business name
- Instagram (if you have it)
- Contact (tel. number, e-mail)
- Website (if you have it)
- Working hours (optional)
So, click on the 2nd page, and let’s add those. Also, for the logo and text, we’ll just copy it from the 1st page and reduce the dimensions. If possible, try using the same or similar font as on the 1st page. For the business name, I used the exact same font type, and for details, I used a very similar font.
As you can see, I added white boxes on the left, as well as Icons for phone, Viber, WhatsApp, and Instagram. You can search for those icons under the “Elements” tab. For example, just write “WhatsApp icon”, and pick one from the results.
6. Download The Design
Before you can go and order some car detailing business cards, we first need to download the design we just created. On the upper right corner, click the “Share” button, and then choose the “Download” option from there.
Click the “Download” button again, and save the file somewhere on your computer.
And, that’s it! Your business card design is ready for printing and sharing with your customers.
Where and How To Print Business Cards?
There are hundreds of places that offer printing business cards for you. Mostly, you’ll be able to find them in your city – all the printing companies have that option. However, in order to save some money and keep your business profitable, I suggest you use some online shops for that.
One of the best and cheapest printing companies is PG Print (check here). They have affordable prices and also provide you with high-quality and good-looking business cards.
Below is a quick guide to ordering business cards for your auto detailing business.
Step 1: Open PGpring Business Card Configurator
You can open the configurator here. Then, enter all the details (how many cards, double-sided, etc.). Here’s the screenshot of how I’d do it with the business card from the example.
My recommendation is to choose something similar to mine. So:
- Size and width – standard 3.5×2 inches
- Quantity – I suggest you pick 500 pieces
- Printed side: Printed front & back
- Paper: 14pt Cover Coated 2 sides
- Ready to ship in: 3 Business days (Standard)
There are also some other options you can choose from, such as rounded corners or coating, but It’s not essential, and it’ll increase the cost of business cards.
Step 2: Upload The Design
Click on the “Upload Your Design” button inside the configurator, and then select the files you saved from Canva. You’ll have to upload files one by one for each side of the card.
After uploading the images, click the ZIP code of your city, and click Get Rates. It’ll show you the estimated shipping costs. After that, click on the “Continue” button.
Step 3: Complete Order and Pay
You can check the preview of your business cards on the new window that’s opened. Sometimes, you’ll have to enter the ZIP code again and then proceed to “Add to cart”. Over here, you can still change quantity and paper type. Also, to save money, I suggest you pick Proof type: Online, which is free.
After that, a new window will open to confirm your order. On the lower right corner, click the “Proceed to checkout” button, fill in all the details (name, address, contact, etc.), and also payment details, and finish the order.
They accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal as a payment option.
Final Words
I think that sharing business cards with potential customers will surely end up with a few more people coming to you to wash their vehicles. They’re not expensive, and it’s always good to carry a few in your wallet.
Here’s the finished design that we’ve got:
